Design
The Xiaomi 13 Lite looks more like its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Pro, with a slender frame, tapered Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, and a rounded glass rear. The 7.23mm profile of the Xiaomi 13 Lite makes it tiny and pocket-friendly, and the rounding at the point where the glass meets the frame adds to the illusion of slimness. Because of the materials chosen, the Lite is also quite light, weighing only 171 grams. Unlike the original Civi, Civi 2, and Xiaomi 13 Lite, which feature metal frames, the phone’s fit, and quality are not as good, and the reflection of the plastic reveals it. The question is how long the plastic will survive.
The phone’s frame contains hardware controllers on the right side and a USB-C connection on the bottom, as well as an IR blaster built into the top, which is unusual for Chinese manufacturers. While the Xiaomi 13 Lite has fewer color options than the Civi 2, the various finishes are elegant, with the Lite Pink standing out because of its iridescence.

Display
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s display is large, but not as large as that of the S23 Ultra, with a 6.7-inch screen. On paper, it has a 3440 x 1440 resolution, and with to 12-bit color depth and Dolby Vision, optimized content should look fantastic on it.
With a peak full-screen brightness of 1300 nits, it should be suitable for usage both indoors and outdoors in direct sunshine.

Camera
The camera is why you’re here, and the 13 Ultra doesn’t disappoint, with four 50MP shooters on the back and a 32MP selfie camera on the front.
The quad camera system on the back has four focal lengths: 12mm, 23mm, 75mm, and 120mm. Xiaomi also claims that 46mm and 240mm pictures would be reasonably lossless in well-lit conditions. While the optical reach cannot compete with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the 13 Ultra’s integrated sensors out-spec Samsung’s super-phone in terms of size.
A flexible combination consisting of a 50MP 75mm telephoto lens and a 50MP wide-angle lens joins the primary camera. All three cameras were co-engineered with Leica and use Leica lenses, with Xiaomi also collaborating with the renowned camera firm on software.
Xiaomi and Leica collaborated to create the camera software, which is notably quicker and easier to use than other Xiaomi phones. The shutter button, which nearly always responds instantly to the touch — no danger of missing a once-in-a-lifetime image — is probably the most significant innovation. Of course, this does not apply in low-light circumstances when the camera needs a longer time to catch more light.
The selfie camera also has a unique feature called Dynamic Framing. By default, it provides a little limited image, but if you wish to shoot a picture with someone else, it will automatically identify that and zoom further out, utilizing the full 32MP sensor (yep, pixel binning is enabled by default for the selfie camera). When taking selfies, the camera does not enable you to zoom freely. You have the option of using the wide-angle 0.8x or 1x preset.

Performance
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU featured in the Xiaomi 13 Lite is unusual in the smartphone industry. The Adreno 644 GPU is found in the graphic unit. 13 Lite is powered on MIUI 14 on top of Android 12. Nonetheless, it should be sufficient for the majority of users’ demands, including gaming, but not at the highest graphics settings.
Xiaomi has simplified the RAM and storage options for the worldwide market, giving only one option: 8GB RAM and 128GB non-expandable UFS 2.2 storage.
Despite not being as cutting-edge as the UFS 4.0-compliant storage featured in the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, the storage technology in the Xiaomi 13 Lite is still acceptable for ordinary use.
Xiaomi does not specify stereo speakers for the music on the 13 Lite, but it does offer Dolby Atmos compatibility, indicating that audio quality is crucial. Due to the surrounding noise, it was difficult to test the phone’s audio quality during a hands-on session.
Battery
According to the manufacturer, the Xiaomi 13 Lite has a 4,500mAh battery and can be charged at a maximum speed of 67W, which is enough to charge it from 0 to 100% in roughly 40 minutes. Return for our full review, where we’ll show you the results of our battery testing so you know what to expect.
Unfortunately, the 13 Lite does not support wireless or reverse-wireless charging.
Verdict
The Xiaomi 13 Lite impresses with its quality and attractive appearance, as well as a high-resolution OLED reference display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has received praise for its strong Snapdragon CPU, camera suite, and speakers, as well as its long battery life.
