Design

Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite has a bright style and comes in two colors: Pastel Lime and Chromatic. While it lacks substantial design advancements, it stands out from its predecessor, the Nord CE 2 Lite. The phone has a big form factor with a hole punch display in the middle, low bezels, and a relatively thick chin.

The front has a flat glass display with the same huge cutout in the center for the front camera as the back. The bottom bezels are bigger, but the Nord CE 3 Lite also appears to have thicker top bezels than the Realme 10 Pro. This could be because the display is somewhat larger despite having the same size.

Buttons

The Nord CE 3 Lite sports a power button on the right side that also serves as a fingerprint sensor. Because it’s only on one side, it’s tough to operate with the left hand or while the phone is lying on its back. It also gets activated just by merely holding the phone in your hand, and when you actively try to press it, it’s difficult to find because it’s flush with the frame.

The customary OnePlus alert slider is missing from the phone’s right side. The dual SIM tray is on the phone’s left side. The volume controls shift to the left, as opposed to the right on the Realme 10 Pro. Those who have used other OnePlus phones will recognize the new layout.

A microphone is located on the phone’s top. A thin grill that you can see between the display and the top of the frame for the earpiece. The earphone also serves as one of the speakers.

A second microphone, the other loudspeaker of the stereo pair, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are located on the phone’s bottom. A USB-C connector is also included, which supports USB 2.0 speeds.

The CE 3 Lite is unabashedly plastic as an entry-level model in the Nord series. Everything is constructed of plastic from the frame to the rear cover. Instead of the Corning model found on more expensive handsets, the front is composed of Asahi Dragontrail Star glass.

The build quality is adequate for a phone. The case has no flex or creak, and the phone feels solid in hand. The phone has no ingress protection or coating stated.

Display

The CE 3 Lite has the largest display of any Nord device to date, with a 6.72-inch LCD capable of switching between 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz depending on the app or feature in use.

To save power, you can also set the screen to a maximum of 60Hz. A 240Hz touch response rate is comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series and should be fast enough for general mobile gaming.

The device does not support HDR, which is fortunate because HDR performance on LCD displays is terrible at best.

The dynamic refresh rate adjustment is not available in all apps. While the phone could identify the video frame rate in the YouTube app and alter the display refresh rate accordingly, the display in all other video apps remained at 60Hz. Even when it did change in the YouTube app, it would randomly jump between the right refresh rate and 60Hz for no apparent reason.

Camera

Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite Camera

On the back of the OnePlus North CE, 3 Lite 5G is a triple-camera configuration. A new 108-megapixel Samsung HM6 primary camera with an f/1.75 aperture is available. A 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor are included. The phone boasts a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies

The primary camera performs admirably in the daytime. Images taken with the primary camera include vibrant colors and sufficient detail. I appreciated how the phone didn’t oversaturate the photographs and instead sought to maintain the colors as true to life as possible. HDR photos may have had better dynamic range performance.

While recording photographs in low light or utilizing Night mode, where the shutter is normally open for at least a couple of seconds, you will miss the optical image stabilization (OIS).

While night mode photographs are well-exposed, pixel-peeping reveals a loss of details and a lack of crispness. This is true for portrait photographs shot in low light, where the colors are fine but the details are a little faint.

According to the manufacturer, the main camera can capture “3X lossless zoom photos,” but in order to get fine details, you’ll need steady hands and enough light.

The macro camera is comparable to those found on other phones, which means it exists solely to allow you to experiment with macro photography, although the final result is often poor.

In most circumstances, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G’s front camera captures accurate colors and details for selfies. The accuracy of edge detection is quite good, and the blur is also quite pleasant.

It is equally easy to forget video performances. There is no OIS, and the digital stabilizing looks bad while adding artifacts. The amount of detail is average, and the dynamic range is poor. The colors appear to be the only positive aspect of the image quality, but they, too, falter when the light levels fall.

Performance

The Nord CE 3 Lite, like the Nord CE 2 Lite last year, is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695G processor. The issue is that, since 2022, most smartphones in the three CE price bracket have seen an increase in processing power.

As a result, the gadget has respectable benchmarking statistics but is not among the top performers. The gadget received an overall score of 408,711 on Antutu and a multi-core result of 2,124 on Geekbench 6. These are not awful results in and of themselves, but products based on the Snapdragon 778G platform will easily outperform the smartphone in terms of performance.

The phone includes 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM that can supplement with an additional 8GB via virtual swap memory. Internal storage is up to 256GB UFS 2.2, with a microSD card slot for an additional 1TB.

Overall, it’s amazing with the stereo speaker system, particularly how loud it can get without sacrificing depth. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor works as claimed, and the registration process is also quite simple. Aside from that, the phone supports all common sub-6GHz 5G bands, both SA and NSA.

Battery & Charging

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G boasts a 5000mAh battery that can comfortably last a full day and supports 67W SUPERVOOC charging, with an 80W charger supplied. The proprietary charger takes approximately 25 minutes to reach 75% and approximately 40 minutes to fully charge, which is excellent.

Last Verdict

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G is a wonderful phone for individuals on a tight budget who want a OnePlus smartphone. You get the new OxygenOS experience, a long battery life, strong performance, and quick charging. While the design is subjective, you will enjoy the phone’s general in-hand feel and the lime color. I think it is a great choice for anyone who is looking for an affordable smartphone that does not compromise on quality.
